Construction is expensive. How do you plan and be ready for a budget push out and what do you sacrifice when it happens?
Here at Casper, we don't believe that cutting costs means cutting quality. Unexpected and unplanned surprises will always happen when building. Until you start excavating and digging for the foundation, you don't know what you are up against. At this stage, it is also too late to turn back. Same goes when you fall in love with fittings that are beyond your budget. Do you trade something off or find the extra cash to throw in?
There are so many factors involved, and there is no one right answer. This is dictated by your passion and love for the project, your intended end use and what will stretch you beyond your means.
Be informed before finalizing a decision.
The worst thing you can do as a client is to make a decision without knowing the construction and budget impacts.
Set a meeting with everyone, and talk to your designer and your builder together. Its always best to get everyone on board with the same vision so you aren't sit in the middle of picking your dream faucet over your builder needing extra labor to meet your time frame. Express your desire and preference in a group, and let your team figure out the best way to go about it. They will be the best source of knowledge on the pros and cons for what you are wanting. This will help you make an informed decision. Often, sitting somewhere in the middle of everything is the best way to go, so be ready to compromise.
Our only word of advise: Don't splash out on a "trend" that you will get sick of in 12 months time! Put your money where it matters; quality, good tradies and a sound building you know will last!
Have you embarked on a project and now come across obstacles you are not sure how to navigate? Is your team struggling to work together to find you the best solutions? Talk to the Casper team. They specialize in helping you make the right decisions throughout the length of your build, and are happy to jump in no matter what stage you are at!
